The Labyrinth
Finding your way through the systems we live inside
Sharon Mackenzie — Author & Social Science Writer

A labyrinth is not a maze. There is a path, and it leads somewhere — even when it feels like you are walking away from the centre.
About the book
A maze is built to confuse you. A labyrinth is not.
The Labyrinth opens the Human Systems series with the simplest and hardest idea in it: the winding is part of the way. The turns that feel like going backwards are still the path.
This is a book about walking through the tangle of relationships, communities, roles and expectations without losing the thread of who you are.
What this book explores:
- The difference between a maze and a labyrinth — and why it matters
- Why the path turns away from the centre before it arrives
- Walking through relational tangle without losing yourself
- The roles and expectations we carry into every system
- Patience, pace and the practice of staying on the path
- What we find at the centre — and what we carry back out
Who it's for
- Anyone in the middle of a season that has no clear map
- Readers new to the Human Systems body of thought
- People navigating complicated families, communities or workplaces
- Those who suspect the long way round might be the honest way
You are not lost. You are on a path that turns.
The Labyrinth is the way in to the Human Systems series — the walk before the map.
A labyrinth has only one path. You cannot take a wrong turn. You can only keep walking.
