Current scope — what is offered here

Sharon is a qualified counsellor and an accredited chaplain. Spirit Led Counselling is a counselling and chaplaincy practice and an independent publishing house — a body of work rather than a physical premises.

Sharon now offers a limited number of individual counselling appointments: 'The Way Back to Yourself', a single 60-minute one-to-one reflective session ($120 AUD). The one-to-one practice is kept intentionally small, and an enquiry is not an automatic booking. Where Sharon believes another practitioner or service is better suited, she will say so.

Alongside that, this site offers books, written reflections, frameworks and website material. These are educational and reflective offerings. Reading a book or subscribing to the email list does not, by itself, create a counsellor-client relationship — that begins only when a session is agreed and held.

Counselling here is reflective and conversational. It is not medical, psychological or psychiatric treatment, and it does not include diagnosis, prescribing, risk assessment or legal advice. If you need those, please seek support from a suitably qualified professional.

This page is general information about how things work here. It isn't legal advice.

Individual counselling sessions — consent, records & cancellation

Sessions are one-to-one, 60 minutes, $120 AUD, held online via Zoom, and are booked one session at a time. There is no package and no expectation of ongoing counselling; a further session can be requested if it would be useful.

Before a first session you will be asked to confirm you understand the scope above, and that participation is voluntary — you can pause, redirect or end a session at any time.

Brief, factual session records are kept securely, are used only to support your care, and are not shared without your written consent except where disclosure is required or permitted by law (for example, a serious and imminent risk of harm, or a lawful subpoena or mandatory reporting obligation).

If you need to cancel or reschedule, at least 24 hours' notice is appreciated so the time can be offered to someone else.

Counselling is not a crisis or emergency service and is not monitored after hours. In immediate danger, call 000; Lifeline 13 11 14.

Books, frameworks & reflections — what they are and are not

The books, frameworks and reflections published here are reflective and educational writing about human systems, relationships, belonging, grief, identity and faith. They are designed to give people language for their own experience.

Reading them does not establish an individual counselling relationship, and nothing published here is diagnosis, legal advice, risk assessment or a personalised clinical opinion.

You remain responsible for your own decisions and actions. Where a situation involves harm, risk, a legal question or an emergency, please seek appropriately qualified professional, legal or emergency assistance.

Books, written reflections and framework material are Sharon Mackenzie's original work unless otherwise identified, and are shared for your own personal, reflective use. Reproducing, reselling, republishing, distributing, teaching commercially or rebranding the material requires written permission. Ordinary rights under Australian copyright law apply — nothing more is claimed.

Email collection & privacy

The signup form on this site collects your email address, and optionally your name, where you're based and what you're interested in. That's it.

This information is used to send you the updates you asked for — new books, reflections and occasional Spirit Led Counselling news. It is not used to create counselling notes or health records.

You can unsubscribe or ask to be removed at any time, using the unsubscribe link in any email or by emailing Sharon directly. Your details are not sold or rented for third-party marketing.

Information is stored using reasonable security measures, but no online service can promise absolute security.

You're welcome to contact Sharon to ask what personal information is held about you, and to request correction or deletion where appropriate. Personal information is handled in a way consistent with the principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, to the extent those apply to a small operation like this one.

Counselling qualifications & NSW position

Sharon holds counselling training and qualifications, and is also an accredited chaplain, artist and author. That foundation informs her writing and the warm, unhurried way sessions are held.

She offers a limited number of individual counselling appointments. Counselling in Australia is not a government-registered profession, and nothing here should be read as claiming government registration.

Counselling and other non-registered health services in NSW are subject to the NSW code of conduct for non-registered health practitioners where a health service is being provided, and Sharon works within that code. Reading a book or a reflection does not make you a counselling client.

Counselling-specific consent, privacy, records, cancellation and complaints information is set out above and is also provided to clients directly before a first session.

Accessibility

This website and the published material aim to be reasonably accessible. The site follows WCAG 2.1 AA guidance as a goal, and written material is offered in clear, plain language.

Reasonable adjustments can often be arranged — larger-print or plain-language versions of written material, or an alternative format on request.

Please contact Sharon if you'd like to talk through access needs, or if you strike a barrier anywhere on this site.

Safety & crisis boundary

This website, the resources, the email list and the workshops are not crisis services, and they are not monitored continuously. Messages are read during ordinary business hours, and there is no after-hours crisis support here.

If you are in immediate danger, call 000. For 24/7 support, Lifeline is 13 11 14, Beyond Blue is 1300 22 4636, the 1800RESPECT line for family and sexual violence is 1800 737 732, and the NSW Mental Health Line is 1800 011 511.

Cancellations, refunds & Australian Consumer Law

Where a paid digital resource or paid event is offered, the terms — fees, cancellation, rescheduling and refunds — will be clearly stated at the point of purchase or registration.

Nothing on this site excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee or right that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Books purchased through Amazon or another retailer are subject to that retailer's own returns and refunds terms.

Complaints & feedback

If something about a resource, a workshop, your privacy or a purchase concerns you, please raise it with Sharon by email. Most things can be sorted out in a straightforward conversation, and feedback is genuinely welcome.

The NSW Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) handles complaints about health service providers, including non-registered health practitioners, where its jurisdiction applies. That won't cover every question about a book, a website page or a published resource, but the option is noted here for transparency: 1800 043 159 or hccc.nsw.gov.au.

You may also raise a concern with the International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT), of which Sharon is a professional member.

Intellectual property

The books, website copy, artwork, session prompts and workshop materials are Sharon Mackenzie's original work unless otherwise identified.

Personal use is fine where material is provided for that purpose — read it, print it for yourself, reflect on it, use it in your own life.

Copying, distributing, republishing, adapting, teaching commercially or building paid material from this work requires written permission, except where the law permits it (for example fair dealing for study, research, review or criticism, with attribution).
